Feverish Photography Feature

I've been an avid reader (if I can spare a second away from just gawking at the images) of Aaron Feverish's Photo Blog. He posts daily features of photographers whose work he enjoys as well as his own lovely images. Its one of my favorite places to draw inspiraiton and get excited about what I do. Features have included Logan White, David Shama, James Macari, and Alena Chandler to name a few...

Im extremely honored and excited to be featured today. Its cool to see what personal work resonates well with others. It feels great to look back at images from the last few years and see that people are still enjoying the photos.

Keep It Light "Film Inspiration"

This weeks Keep It Light Photo Collective project was to draw inspiration from cinema and create an image or series of images. Nick & I Teamed up for this one as we both love Michael Mann's Epic Masterpiece HEAT. The opening scene is visually a perfect way to set the tone for the rest of the film. A Master of location scouting, Mann always shows off LA in a way that really reflects someone who loves it and knows it well. I scouted a location here in Seattle I thought was similar to the opening scene of the film and I love our results. These two were my favorite from our series. For anyone who hasnt seen the film, I'd highly recommend it. A rare movie that actually ties together action, love, suspense, and drama seamlessly.

Photos Of The Day

Couple photos to start off the day. Finally found and scanned this lighting test Polaroid from my last shoot with Rose. I dig the mood of this shot and how it is a nice pre-courser to the Mirror Shot I love so dearly.

Secondly, It doesn't get much more baller/nerdier than Gold Hasselblad500c Cuff Links. My friend Justin's father was a huge collector of Hasselblad stuff of all kinds. He gave these to his son.

Cat Band

A couple from my shoot with Cat Band last week. It was as fun as it looks aside from the downpouring rain.. In the end though, i think the wet rainy day added to the mood of these shots.

Terra on Film

I had the pleasure of shooting with Terra yesterday for a fun, creative shoot and I couldn't be happier. These were the film shots from the day. Still have another round to post when im done editing the digitals but so far Im extremely proud of this shoot and my first time doing the styling myself.Thanks so much to Erin Skipley for Hair/Makeup Angel Dorr for Assisting

Visual Acoustics

I had just read about this documentary on Julius Shulman in The Stranger and am so glad i caught it before its run is over at NWFF. If anyone reads this today and it interests them, GO SEE IT TONIGHT (last night of its run)

Overall, I feel is the perfect film for me to see right now. Aside from it involving so many things i enjoy (Mid Century-Modern Architecture, Film, Photography, Cinemetegraphy, Furnature) It gives such a candid look at someone who truly found there passion and lived life knowing it. Julius was just as funny and on his mark in his 90's as in his 20s any 30's.

I will be in LA next weekend and a shoot I already had been planning involves a wonderful model but most importantly a 1950's modern home nestled in the LA Hills. I cannot deny this film completely added a new dimension of how im looking at the shoot visually. Thanks for that Julius.
