Big Congrats to MJ & Travis!

White Lines and The Fever - Clip from Lincoln Leopard Films on Vimeo.

My good friend Michael J. Mouncer (Producer) (MJ to most of us) & his partner Travis Senger (Director) just took home the Grand Jury Prize at Tribeca yesterday!! For their new Documentary: White Lines & The Fever: The Death of DJ Junebug

I had the pleasure of working on their last project (CC2010) doing stills and cant wait to see the new film. Not only because my friend was a part of it but the subject matter is so up my alley. Peep the trailer & enjoy this candid of MJ from Capitol Hill Block Party a few years back.

Meet Chick..

This is Chick. I've known him for awhile now. Many people have probably seen him roaming around Seattle. Hard to miss an over 6ft 5" tall dude with an eye patch and amazing vintage outfits. As intimidating as he looks hes, more of a gentle giant that loves comic books and movies.

Finally got a chance to take a portrait of him. I want to do something more planned out but I'm really happy with the outcome of a chance encounter where I had my camera.

Book Shelf/Inspiration

Recently hit up the new Elliot Bay Books location in Capitol Hill. Splurged on a must have for my Photography Coffee Table Book collection. Had the pleasure of seeing this show in person at the Henry Art Gallery last year. I was happy to see it was put out as a book. Eirik Johnson's work is stunning and im so inspired to pursue more long-term projects as a photographer. Its cool to see work in the style of such amazing photographers as William Eggelston and Stephen Shore but the landscape/light itself being so vastly different. South/Eastcoast versus Eirik's purely Northwest Scenes.

Happy Birthday Laura!

Happy Birthday going out to my buddy down south. The lovely/talented Laura Taylor A couple shots I took of her from a few LA trips in recent years.

April Mix

Im constantly making mixes for my own enjoyment while driving/editing photos/whatever else.. Figured i'd finally make it a point to host them in a streaming way once a month. Share stuff ive been loving. New/Old/Whatever.. my taste ranges but I tried to give it somewhat of a natural progression. Enjoy!

Jenny, Strangers, Personal Projects...

I feel executing ideas you have brewing up in your head is extremely important as a photographer. I visited a friends house in Ballard a few months back and instantly pictured a portrait session in their front yard. I didn't have a person in mind but kept the idea on the back burner. I ended up meeting Jenny at her job. She wasn't a model but I instantly saw the potential (Shes Gorgeous..duh.haha). Approaching people about doing photos you don't know isn't always easy or wont always leave a successful outcome but sometimes it is and that makes it a risk I've become increasingly willing to take. Anyways, I couldn't be happier with the outcome of this idea. The film Frame & its hazy flair could be one my favorite images I've ever taken. Big thanks to Angel Dorr for doing makeup and Osiris for that blue top & of course Jenny for giving me the chance to shoot her.

Exit Through the Gift Shop

I checked out the Banksy Film this weekend and really enjoyed it! These little guys showed up on the Harvard Exit in conjunction with the film. Real? probably not but I enjoyed seeing them and figured I would at least take a photo to remember.

As far as the film, it was really cool to see some amazing old footage I never realized existed of many pieces being put up ive walked by in LA & NYC. (Banksy,Shepard Fairey, invader, Swoon, etc..) Ive always been a huge fan of Invader's work (Photo I took in Silverlake above) and was surprised that "Mr Brainwash" was his cousin and invader more or less started him on the path of documenting street art and eventually making his own (awful as it may be haha). Go see the movie!

Charlotte Gainsbourg

Truly a dream come true shooting Charlotte Gainsbourg. So refreshing to meet such an incredible talent (Film/Music/Etc..) who is still so genuine, friendly, and a bit shy. I had a brief portrait opportunity after her in studio performance with KEXP. The top photo was my favorite of the 3 frames I shot. Urghh and did I mention that accent :P haha (sorry katie =) )

Keep It Light: Couples

This weeks Keep It Light assignment was to shoot a couple. My original plan of having Elvia sneek me a key and shooting the two of them asleep didn't quite pan out haha. I still love this shot however. Both are wonderful talented people.

Keep It Light has also gotten some exciting news. We are collaborating with Dumb Eyes Design Studio on an upcoming project regarding Capitol Hill. Details to come soon but its really exciting to see a fun collaborative collective getting work based on something we all do for the love.

Photo Of The Day

I already miss NYC. The trip went really well. Photos from the job turned out well and I managed to see a lot of the city, eat a lot of great food, and stay out far too late each night. This photo brings me right back to that place. Its probably an everyday occurrence there but it makes me laugh.

We Are: BECU

Stoked to see this first Bil board around town using my images from the latest BECU Ad Campaign. Featuring all local BECU customers and NW Business owners. I'm anxious to see the rest used on some Bus's and other Print Ad's.

BECU / Switch from Lonnie Weis on Vimeo.

The shoot was in conjunction with Digital Kitchen for This Commercial. Also using some of my stills shot in Burst Mode sequences for the edit.

Charles Krafft

Had the chance to work with one of my favorite artists. Mostly specializing in porcelain. Charles Krafft's work has always been pretty intense/touchy subject matter. I first saw his amazing porcelain gun collection (various full scale weapons produced in porcelain and hand painted) last year and was glad to include one in my portrait (above). His latest series "Pitchfork Pals" is to be shown in London's Stolen Space Gallery during May. Featuring tabloid-ian, disgraced, and evil icons molded into functional tea pots, mugs, and stand alone busts. Heres a few I photographed from the series

NY State of Mind

Off to NYC Tonight for a really exciting Photo Assignment. Beyond stoked to get back to that city. The last and only other time I've been there was 5 years ago. Even then, it brought so much out of my creative eye. Im excited to go back with more knowledge, more cameras, and a little more life experience. The photo above was taken 5 years ago with my old D70. Still brings back good memories of my first time in NYC
