Truckasaurus Quarters

Shot the album art for Truckasaurus's upcoming record: Quarters. To be released in September on The the Journal Of Popular Noise It was a really fun project involving a lot of talented friends. If you were a kid on the east-side of Seattle in the late 90's you will know about Quarters & the nostalgia this image brings us back.

Inspiration: Sean Pecknold

Primarily known for his Video work (Music videos for Beach House, Elvis Perkins, Grizzly Bear, and more...), Sean Pecknold is an all around talent. I caught a glimpse earlier this week at a recent series of still photos he took while recently riding the train across country. The tone and compositions are spot on. I really enjoyed these. Hope you do as well. A few of my favorites:

Book Shelf/Inspiration

Recently hit up the new Elliot Bay Books location in Capitol Hill. Splurged on a must have for my Photography Coffee Table Book collection. Had the pleasure of seeing this show in person at the Henry Art Gallery last year. I was happy to see it was put out as a book. Eirik Johnson's work is stunning and im so inspired to pursue more long-term projects as a photographer. Its cool to see work in the style of such amazing photographers as William Eggelston and Stephen Shore but the landscape/light itself being so vastly different. South/Eastcoast versus Eirik's purely Northwest Scenes.

Stephen Shore: Uncommon Places

I am finally the proud owner of this gorgeous hardcover book. Published a year before my birth in 1982, it still inspires me and seems as fresh as anything being shot in the same vein today. The color work of people like Stephen and William Eggelston has inspired a lot of my work with or without knowing it. Below are a few of my favorite color shots ive taken in the signature spirit of Shores Uncommon Places.

Keep It Light "Film Inspiration"

This weeks Keep It Light Photo Collective project was to draw inspiration from cinema and create an image or series of images. Nick & I Teamed up for this one as we both love Michael Mann's Epic Masterpiece HEAT. The opening scene is visually a perfect way to set the tone for the rest of the film. A Master of location scouting, Mann always shows off LA in a way that really reflects someone who loves it and knows it well. I scouted a location here in Seattle I thought was similar to the opening scene of the film and I love our results. These two were my favorite from our series. For anyone who hasnt seen the film, I'd highly recommend it. A rare movie that actually ties together action, love, suspense, and drama seamlessly.

Inspiration

I think staying inspired is always important.. Wanted to post up a Music Video as well as a few photos that are blowing my mind this evening. (Top Photo By Aron Gent) The Music Video was shot entirely on a Cannon 5D Mark 2 DSLR, edited, tracked and composited in a normal post workflow. Then, every other frame, some 4305 of them, were printed out, crumpled up, spray mounted in stacks, and then reshot on homemade animation stands. A month of long nights, razor cuts, toxic fumes, and a terrabyte of stills later, we came out with this." Video directed by the Humble Collective
