Had the extreme pleasure of watching/shooting Rodriguez first time playing in Seattle. Born in Detroit to Mexican-immigrant parents, Sixto Rodriguez released his debut, Cold Fact, in 1970 to a limited overseas audience and, unbeknownst to him, became a cult hero and revolutionary icon in South Africa. Thanks to the great local Seattle Label Light in the Attic, a 2008 re-release of the original album along with its followup Coming From Reality in the U.S. brought these lost classics to a whole new audience. It recently broke within the top 50 on national charts.
